Manufacturing Story of a CPR Cable
What are the steps that all manufacturers should follow to provide users with a cable classified and declared under the CPR?
Everything starts with the market: manufacturers need to provide their customers with cables that have the performance levels needed. Cables are constructed according to national and/or international standards in order to comply with regulations.
Existing cable designs and standards are well-established. CPR adds additional requirements which the cable designer must assess.
The materials used in the cable's construction need to be assessed and a change might be required to meet CPR requirements such as for the emission of acidic gases or to limit fire spread. To achieve higher performance classes manufacturers may need to change the materials they use.
